After the official publication of the progress report for Kosovo, the Commissioner for EU enlargement, Marta Kos, declared that the European Union will very soon remove the imposed measures. She connected the decision that the EU will take soon, also with the conduct of local elections, which in her assessment were considered quite good.
Kos stated that the progress report for Kosovo is very critical, while he emphasized that they are in constant contact with the Government and the President.
“We will remove the measures against Kosovo as soon as possible, especially now that the local elections have been conducted in a good way. The report on Kosovo is critical. We are in contact with the president and the government. They have promised to move forward and we will see this very soon“, declared Kos.
The EU imposed some punitive measures against Kosovo in June 2023, due to increased tensions in the north of Kosovo, inhabited by a majority of Serbs.
