Kola emphasized that, in her assessment, Albin Kurti did not aim at institutional stability and the election of the president.
“I am convinced that there will be elections. And I have thought about this since the beginning of the talks that Albin Kurti had with the LDK. I think that Mr. Kurti did not intend to have a stability and to have an election of the president, because the population of Kosovo, i.e. the society, has clearly told him in four out of three pairs of elections in these two years that you can make the government alone and he has given it, as no other leader has given it, not even to names like Ibrahim Rugova.
But in the meantime, the Constitution of Kosovo does not have what, unfortunately, we have, for the concentration of all power in the hands of one party. That we have fallen short, therefore we can in Albania the president can be elected half an hour earlier because the votes are in the hands of one party. In Kosovo, the Constitution has determined that there must be a political consensus and in this case it is the issue of the president. And this was not the product of a compromise”, she said.
The journalist estimated that the LDK and the Democratic Party of Kosovo have made mistakes.
“I think that LDK and PDK have made mistakes and we will discuss them. The PDK today is in a predicament, I would call it, because the party has internal problems definitely because of the whole process that happened. The two leaders have taken, there is a decision that affects not only the PDK, but already affects the entire society in Kosovo, therefore there is also a citizen reaction. And there is an extreme problem in the political class of Kosovo, which is the failure at any moment of a more forward-looking national interest, of the state of Kosovo, but only the daily political interests of one party or another.” said journalist Kola.
According to her, if there had been a real will for the election of the president, the relationship between Vetëvendosje and LDK could have worked.
“If there was a desire to be elected president, it could have worked with Vetëvendosje’s relationship with the LDK. We saw meetings, over meetings, approaches that did not go right there, and then we had a PDK which found itself in a problematic situation, where the prevailing interest was to have what will happen to the four leaders and to the Specialized Chambers.
For me, there should have been a strategy that started earlier and it is already late. I think that the political class in Kosovo had no desire to elect the president. This is a decision and an election that enters into a continuous crisis after the elections, which has to affect the entire society of the state of Kosovo”. concluded Denada Kola.
