The ceasefire agreement envisages that Hezbollah will leave the Lebanese territory south of the Lítání River to the border with Israel. Only Lebanese soldiers and members of the UN mission UNIFIL will remain in this region, The Jerusalem Post reminded.
The UN peacekeeping forces have already announced that they have adapted to the situation. The Lebanese army is to deploy 10,000 soldiers.
The withdrawal of Israel from southern Lebanon is overseen by the United States and France. According to The Jerusalem Post, the head of the regional command of the American armed forces CENTCOM, Michael Kurilla, watched the departure of Israeli troops from Chiam on the spot.
“This is the first important step on the way to stopping hostilities,” Le Monde quoted Kurillo as saying.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on the X social network that the deployment of (Lebanese) troops “in the areas of Chiam and Marjayoun represents a crucial step” in the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
However, regardless of the ceasefire in southern Lebanon, Israel is still destroying the tunnels and infrastructure of Hezbollah and attacking members of the militant movement who refuse to comply with the terms of the agreement. The Jewish state has repeatedly pointed out that it is determined to enforce the ceasefire by force.
