Israel announced the sale of an air defense system to Slovakia

The agreement will further strengthen ties between Israel and Slovakia and at the same time strengthen Slovakia’s defense capabilities, the ministry said.

Israel will deliver the Barak MX integrated air defense system to Slovakia, which is manufactured by the state company Israel Aerospace Industries. The system is designed to combat current and future air threats, which are, for example, fighter aircraft, helicopters, drones and missiles with a flat flight path, surface-to-air missiles and ballistic missiles. According to the ministry, it is capable of intercepting missiles at a distance of up to 150 km.

“The increase in Israeli defense exports during the (Gaza) war is a direct result of Israeli technology being proven on the battlefield,” senior Defense Ministry official Eyal Zamir said, adding that Israel is seeing increased interest from more countries.

“I believe that other NATO countries will follow the Slovak example,” added Zamir, according to Reuters.
