Infrastructure works have been completed in Karavanke Tunnel, which was carried out by Cengiz İnşaat, the group company of Cengiz Holding.
According to a statement from the company, the most important point in the highway network, which reached Austria via Slovenia and connects the Mediterranean, Balkans and Central Europe, was left behind in the Karavanke Tunnel project.
The Karavanke Tunnel, which is a strategic crossing point in the Alp Mountains, will be opened to traffic in the first quarter of 2026 after the completion of work on mechanical and asphalt layers, concrete road manufacturing, epoxy paint manufacturing, tunnel lighting and ventilation systems and other electromechanical systems.
The total length of the Karavanke Tunnel, which is the longest highway tunnel built within the borders of Slovenia and located in the Hrusica region of the Alpine Mountains, will be 7 thousand 822 meters.
In the project, Cengiz İnşaat will build 3 thousand 446 meters within the borders of Slovenia and will sign the infrastructure project implemented by a Turkish contractor company in Slovenia.
Despite the unfavorable conditions in the Karavanke Tunnel project, the company successfully represents the Turkish contracting sector in Europe’s important transportation project.
