In Iran, two girls were arrested because of a dance video where they are without covered hair

According to the police, the bare-haired girls, with their dancing in clothes that do not meet the requirements of the Iranian theocratic regime, caused public indignation, especially the families of fallen soldiers.

The girls filmed the video inside the Tehran memorial to the soldiers who died in the Iraq-Iran war. Iranian laws require women to wear loose-fitting clothes and carefully cover their hair, and at the same time prohibit them from dancing in public, the website Iranintl noted.

However, especially in big cities, many girls and women do not follow these laws and expose themselves more. In September 2022, twenty-two-year-old Mahsá Aminíová died in a police cell. She was detained by the morality police because her hair was insufficiently covered. Her death sparked protests that grew into the largest demonstrations against the theocratic regime since 1979, when it took power in the country.

The government cracked down hard on the demonstrations, according to non-governmental organizations, more than 500 people died and almost 20,000 others were arrested. Many were sentenced to prison terms, ten of them were executed.
