The Secretary General of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG), Iakovos Filippousis, accompanied by the leadership of the Kosovo Olympic Committee (OKK) – President Ismet Krasniqi, Secretary General Besim Aliti and Vice President Milaim Kelmendi, was received by the newly appointed Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Blerim Gashani.
General Secretary Filippousis was invited by Minister Gashani during his visit to Pristina to participate in the annual meeting of the ICMG Commission “Women in Sport”.
The discussions focused on the organization of the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games. Minister Gashani expressed his commitment, readiness and strong willingness to cooperate with the International Committee of Merits (ICMG) and all relevant actors, in order for the Prishtina Games to be a model host country for such a large event.
Filippousis congratulated the Minister on his new position and expressed ICMG’s satisfaction for the full commitment of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in the processes moving forward in the organization of the 21st edition of the Mediterranean Games, the largest sports event ever organized in the country, KosovaPress cites.
He also emphasized the key role of the country’s sports preparation in order to field competitive teams at the Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026 and Pristina 2030 and called for the acceleration of procedures related to the construction and renovation of the Mediterranean Village and the sports facilities of the Games.
