“The driver left the gas station at Dubin in Pardubice shortly before half past ten in the evening. While backing up, he ran into a stationary Toyota Yaris car. However, he did not deal with the collision and drove onto the roundabout, through which the Fabia driver was just passing. He didn’t give priority to that and ran into his right side,” said police spokesman Tomáš Dub.
The police officers knew from the driver’s behavior that it was not just inattention. The breath test showed a value of 2.51 per thousand of alcohol.
“Regarding the high level of alcohol, he stated that he only drank two twelves. For his actions, his personal freedom was restricted on the spot and he ended up in an anti-alcohol detention center, where he stayed until he sobered up,” added Dub.
The traffic police started criminal proceedings with the man on suspicion of committing the crime of endangerment under the influence of an addictive substance. Since he caused a traffic accident while driving while disqualified, he faces up to three years behind bars if convicted.
