The importance of the Balkans for Turks was explained in the program organized by the History Department of Namık Kemal University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The conference was attended by academics and students as well as university administrators and association presidents.

The “History Department Talks” program was held at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University (NKÜ).

Speaking at the program organized by the History Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of NKÜ at the Rectorate Conference Hall, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Demirhan, Head of the History Department of NKÜ, explained the importance of the Balkans for the Turks.

Referring to the minority rebellions and the Ottoman-Russian Wars that began after the 19th century, Demirhan stated that the Turkish nation experienced pain, tears, suffering and forced migration.

In the session led by Assist. Prof. Dr. Cem Düzen, Istanbul 29 Mayıs University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Feridun Emecen and Istanbul 29 Mayıs University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. İlhan Şahin also gave speeches.

NKÜ Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Celalettin Vatandaş and Prof. Dr. Murat Taşan, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Hacıoğlu, Namık Kemal Association President Sezai Kurt, Association of Those Meeting in Historical Consciousness President Hüseyin Bayol, academicians and students attended the conference.
