According to the German hunting website Pirsch, the dead wolf was located on the border between the German state of Bavaria and the Czech Republic.
The police are now investigating the man on suspicion of faking a crime and possible violation of the Nature Protection Act. The security guard who transported the wolf across the border was not authorized to handle the carcass.
The motive of the act of the chairman of the district association for nature protection, which is supposed to thoroughly document possible signs of the presence of wild animals, such as lynx or wolves, remains unclear, writes the website.
