Harris will not meet Putin without the participation of Ukraine

“Not bilaterally without Ukraine. Ukraine must have a say in its own future,” Harris answered in an interview when asked if she would meet in order to end the war with Putin, who launched an aggressive war against Ukraine more than two and a half years ago.

The vice president further stated that she is of the opinion that the United States should continue to support Kyiv even after the November elections, for which it is by far the most important supplier of military aid to defend against Russian aggression.

Her Republican rival Donald Trump, on the other hand, claims that the current support cannot continue and that the war must be ended as soon as possible. He repeatedly stated that he would meet with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and end the war within 24 hours. However, he did not say how he wants to achieve this. At the same time, he does not mention the interests of the attacked Ukraine.

“If Donald Trump were president, Putin would be sitting in Kiev right now. He talks about how he ‘can end the war in a single day’. Do you know what that means? The capitulation of Ukraine,” said Harris.

In the interview, the Democrat avoided a direct answer to the question of whether she supports Ukrainian membership in the North Atlantic Alliance. This is what Kyiv has been striving for for a long time and received an unspecified promise of future membership from NATO countries. However, Russia is strongly opposed and the alliance countries do not support the plan unequivocally, for example Hungary and Slovakia, whose governments are close to Moscow, are against it.
