“He shouldn’t have a dignified funeral or a grave. Funerals are supposed to be a celebration of someone’s life and his is nothing to celebrate,” 27-year-old Samantha Bryan told The Sun. “He’ll burn in hell anyway. There’s no place for him in heaven. The devil is waiting,” she added.
Huntley was attacked by a fellow inmate on February 26, with serious injuries and ended up in a vegetative state in the hospital. Someone had to decide to disconnect him from the devices. His mother, 71-year-old Lynda Richards, agreed. However, she did not show interest in the body and funeral arrangements.
Samantha and her mother, 45-year-old Katie Bryan, whom Huntley not only raped, but also abused, refuse to take care of the funeral. “Christian burial is for people, but he was the devil,” the Daily Mail website quoted Katie as saying.
“His ashes should be flushed down the toilet,” said Samantha. The cremation of the killer of ten-year-old schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman will be paid for by taxpayers. It will cost them about three thousand pounds (84,600 crowns).
At the age of 18, Ian Huntley liked to see 13-year-old girls. Later, he found a woman of the same age, but she left him a few days after the wedding. After the divorce, he moved a lot. In 1998, he brought 15-year-old Bryan into another state.
From 1995 to 2001, Huntley had sexual relations with 11 underage girls between the ages of 11 and 17. During this time, he faced several charges – of robbery, but also of rape. However, due to lack of evidence, he was never convicted.
In 1999, he met Maxine Carr, who later provided him with a false alibi in the case of Holly and Jessica’s murder. Carr worked at the school the girls attended as a teacher’s assistant, Huntley was a janitor there.
He murdered the girls in early August 2002. He threw their bodies into a nearby irrigation ditch and tried to burn them. Because of this, it was not possible to find out whether he raped them before the murder and in what way he murdered them. Apparently, however, he suffocated them. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.
