An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale hit the area near Ioannina in Greece this morning, being strongly felt also in the border regions with Albania. According to the Institute of Geosciences (IGJEUM), after the main shock, several lighter aftershocks were recorded.
Fortunately, no casualties or major material damage were reported. Tremors were widely felt in the Ionian islands, including Corfu and Lefkada, as well as in areas of western Greece as far as Patras.
