Despite Trump’s order, US aid to Ukraine continues to flow, says Zelensky

On Monday, Trump signed an executive order that froze all foreign aid for ninety days. After the expiration of this period, only that aid that is “consistent with the political goals of the US president” will be renewed. Reporters in Davos therefore asked Zelensky if he expected a reduction in aid from the US. “So far, everything continues as before,” the Ukrainian president answered the journalists.

Zelenskyi also spoke about the planned meeting with Trump, reports the Ukrainska pravda server. But it will be preceded by a series of negotiations between the teams of the two heads of state. “Teams will work on negotiations, there will be several different ones. First, team meetings. And then we will work on the upcoming meeting with the president,” explained Zelenskyj.

Meanwhile, European politicians mostly express their belief that Trump will not cut Ukraine off from aid. The German chancellor Olaf Scholz, for example, also stated this. Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis assured Ukraine of continued support from the European Union. According to him, Ukraine will receive 35 billion euros (880.3 billion crowns) from the EU this year through credit initiatives.
