CEC does not certify Serbian List for October 12 elections

The Central Election Commission has not certified the Serbian List to participate in the October 12 local elections. The decision was made after the vote where the result was: two votes in favor, two against and seven abstentions.

President Kreshnik Radoniqi and the representative of the Serbian List voted in favor, while the two members of the Vetevendosje Movement voted against. Members of other parties decided to abstain.

The main objection came from representatives of the Vetevendosje Movement, who stated that some Serbian List candidates are under investigation for attacks in Kosovo and that the party has “terrorist heritage”.

“We have a political party that has a terrorist heritage. In addition, there are other elements, persons who have participated in terrorist attacks and various attacks. We now have the actions of institutions for prosecution.

PDK abstained by saying that certification should be based on official information from security institutions. Even the LDK and the AAK expressed the same attitude, stressing that the CEC is not the body that decides whether a subject is terrorist or not, but this is the task of security institutions.

“As a PDK representative we abstain from the vote for the certification of the Serbian List with these candidates, taking into account this information but also all those discussions that have been made for as long as it has been institutionally accepted. We as PDK abstain from certification. Democratic Kosovo, Arianit Elshani.
