The company Oboronlogistika, which is part of the military construction operations of the Russian Ministry of Defense, stated today that a ship built in 2009 was the target of a terrorist attack. She did not say who, according to her, was behind him.
Earlier, the company stated that the vessel was heading to the Eastern Russian port of Vladivostok with a pair of giant port cranes.
But the Russian independent server Mediazona reported that three large military ships and two cargo vessels, including the Ursa Major, are moving in the Mediterranean Sea.
Both cargo ships are designated as the so-called Syrian Express, which is a supply route for Russian forces in Syria. Analysts therefore believe that the task of the ships was to evacuate Russian soldiers from Syria, where the regime of authoritarian President Bashar Assad recently collapsed.
The portal Censor.net reported on Tuesday that the vessel underwent planned repairs in 2023 and maintenance in the port this summer, and a preventive inspection of the cranes in November. However, due to sanctions, Oboronlogistika had to use spare parts from Russian factories instead of importing them abroad.
