Bedri Hamza resigns from the leadership of PDK

Bedri Hamza has announced his irrevocable resignation from the position of the chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), opening the way for a new election process within the party.

Hamza announced that the decision on the future direction of the PDK will be up to the party members. He emphasized that the new process should create more space for young people and their involvement in decision-making positions.

Hamza said that during the leadership of the PDK he was focused on maintaining internal unity, strengthening structures and maintaining the trust of the membership and voters.

However, he clarified that his resignation from the leadership of the party does not mean his departure from PDK. Hamza stated that he will continue to be part of it and support the political values it represents.

“I am not leaving the PDK. I am only leaving the position of the chairman, but not from the belief in our political values. As long as I live, I will be a loyal voter of the Democratic Party of Kosovo and a member of this great political family”, he said.

During the conference, he also spoke about the decision of the Specialized Chambers in The Hague against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), expressing his dissatisfaction and saying that the commitment to justice and uncovering the truth will continue.

In conclusion, Hamza thanked the members, structures and supporters of the PDK for the trust given during the period of his leadership, stressing that the interest of the party and the country should always be above the personal one.

“I don’t love PDK just to lead it. I have loved it and I will love it even without leading it,” he said.
