Balkans and Immigration Talk in Ferizli

A talk on “Balkans, Greece and Ferizli” was held in Ferizli district of Sakarya.

Speaking at the interview held at Ferizli Public Education Center, former AK Party Sakarya Deputy Mustafa İsen talked about the settlement of the population who came to Sakarya and Ferizli from the Balkan region through population exchange during the Ottoman period.

Stating that Sakarya is an immigrant city, İsen gave information to the participants about Sakarya’s demography and culture.

Explaining the cultural traces and works left by the Turks in the Balkan region, İsen stated that Türkiye has a responsibility towards the Muslim and Turkish population that still exists in the region, and that businessmen and associations should have more contact in the region.

İsen stated that the states in the Balkan region act with the idea of individual nationalism instead of ensuring national cultural integrity and said:

“The most important feature of all the Balkans is the micro-nationalist approach. The aim of all of them is to become states such as Greater Bulgaria, Greater Macedonia and Greater Serbia. The growth of Serbia means that either Romania will shrink or Kosovo will disappear. The territory is clear, so these micro-nationalist approaches will not bring peace to this region.”

İsen, who was given flowers and gifts after his speech, also signed his book titled “Turkish Traces in Greece”.

Ferizli District Governor Muhammed Kaya, Söğütlü District Governor Mehmet Göze, Ferizli Mayor Mehmet Ata, Sakarya Commodity Exchange President (STB) Mustafa Genç, Sakarya Northern Region Balkan and Rumelian Immigrants Solidarity Association President Erol Ulu and citizens attended the program.
