“Balkan Scholars Meeting” held in Edirne ended.
With the support of Edirne Governorship, the meeting organized by the Islamic Scholars Foundation, hosted by Trakya University, in partnership with the Edirne Mimar Sinan Foundation and the Balkan Cities Cooperation Edirne Platform, at the Balkan Congress Center under the name “Our Own Sky” was attended by North Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Sandzak. Grand muftis, muftis and scientists from the region, Western Thrace, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Montenegro and Crimea attended.
The final declaration prepared at the end of the meeting was presented by the President of the Islamic Scholars Foundation, Prof. Dr. It was read by Nasrullah Hacımüftüoğlu.
Hacımüftüoğlu stated that the brotherhood of Anatolia and the Balkans, which are complementary elements of the geography of the heart, was strongly emphasized at the meeting.
Stating that ideas were exchanged on many issues from religious services to social and cultural activities at the meeting, Hacımüftüoğlu said:
“Our world is experiencing a humanitarian crisis. Global powers have trampled on the basic human values gained over centuries as a result of bitter experiences, and recklessly neutralized universal moral principles, international law rules and institutions, taking advantage of the disorganization of Muslim countries to continue the colonial order. From all these, religion, The Islamic world has suffered the most serious damage in political, social and economic terms and continues to do so.
In the face of these developments, the two main sources of Islam, the Holy Quran and the Prophet Muhammad. “Taking into account the warnings of the Prophet, it is imperative that scholars who have the responsibility of being the heirs of the Prophet raise public awareness and focus on concrete studies aimed at influencing the attitudes and behaviors of national and international decision makers in the direction of justice and equity.”
“It is unacceptable for them to remain silent about the genocide committed by Zionist Israel in Gaza.”
Hacımüftüoğlu stated that the establishment of “global hegemony” was carried out by the Western world.
Stating that this hegemony does not have a mentality that will enable living together and winning together, Hacımüftüoğlu continued his words as follows:
“In the world he envisions by focusing on himself, he produces its opposite and positions himself on its absolute loss. The Islamic world and all humanity are suffering from this today. Representatives of religious institutions and organizations, Islamic scholars and opinion leaders believe that God created the basis of Islamic morality. As a requirement of the principles of showing compassion and loving the created for the sake of its creator, it should work to explain to the world that Islamic civilization is an alternative with all its possibilities.
It is unacceptable that the Islamic world does not adequately react to the genocide carried out by Zionist Israel in Gaza and the threat and danger it poses in the region, with the support of imperialist powers, in front of the eyes of the whole world, and does not take the necessary steps to stop this oppression. While it is obvious that global powers are constantly putting pressure on the Islamic world by using human rights as an excuse and justifying international interventions, it is unacceptable for them to remain silent with a hypocritical attitude about the murder of children, women and the elderly, in short, humanity. It is imperative that the international community immediately takes the initiative with all its resources on this issue.
“Muslims must be alert”
Hacımüftüoğlu emphasized that non-governmental organizations and official institutions and organizations of the Islamic world should show the necessary sensitivity to protect the rights of Muslims arising from international law and prevent violations in countries where they live as a minority.
Underlining that Muslims should be alert against the imperialist and orientalist projects implemented by the dominant powers through ethnic structures and religious groups in order to realize their ambitions in the Islamic world, Hacımüftüoğlu continued as follows:
“In this context, Islamic scholars and opinion leaders should lead Muslim states to develop policies within the framework of Islamic brotherhood and ummah awareness, and should focus on studies that will ensure political, economic and social unity and solidarity in the long term. Islamic scholars and opinion leaders should emphasize that religious texts follow a certain method. It accepts the reality of sectarian and Sufi structures that emerge from its interpretations, but takes the necessary stance against attitudes related to community and sectarian fanaticism.
Education and training with imported values and colonial language produces people alienated from their own society. Islamic scholars and opinion leaders should focus on studies that will ensure the preservation of Islamic values and religious language for a healthy religious education in Muslim countries. In this context, awareness-raising activities should be focused on in the family, school and society. Islamic scholars and opinion leaders should focus on activities that will increase the representative power of Muslims, respond to anti-religious and Islamophobic attitudes in the countries they live in, and explain Islam to all humanity in an appropriate language. “Islamic scholars and opinion leaders should come together at regular intervals in a planned and programmed manner, discuss their problems, and focus on civil moves that will produce feasible solutions.”
Hacımüftüoğlu said that the Islamic Scholars Foundation is determined to meet with all Islamic scholars in the world, such as the meeting in Edirne with the scholars of the Balkan geography and Crimea.
