Arrested after the assassination attempt on Trump, he wrote about the attack months in advance

A few months before Routh was arrested on September 15 in West Palm Beach, Florida, according to prosecutors, he handed over a box containing a letter, ammunition, a metal pipe, various materials and four telephones to an unnamed witness. Only after the witness learned of Routh’s arrest did he open the box and alert the police.

“This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump, but I guess I let you down,” Routh writes in a handwritten letter addressed to “the world.” “I will offer $150,000 to anyone who can complete the job,” he continues. According to the indictment, after Routh’s arrest, a handwritten list of dates and places where Trump should appear in August, September and October was found in his car.

Gun seized from Routh after attempted assassination of Donald Trump

Phone records show that Routh arrived in West Palm Beach in mid-August, and was repeatedly seen near Trump’s golf course from August 18 until his arrest.

Routh, armed with a rifle, was spotted by an agent of the United States Secret Service, who shot the gunman several times. The man ran away and was arrested on the highway in the neighboring district. According to American investigators, during the entire incident, Routh did not fire his weapon once and did not even have a direct view of Trump, who was approximately one hundred meters away from him.

Letter from Ryan Routh

Detained Routh has a long criminal record, in the past, according to American media, he was convicted, among other things, of possessing a fully automatic machine gun. In the past, for example, he also traveled to Ukraine in an attempt to join the fighting there against the Russian invasion army on the side of Kyiv – but he was repeatedly rejected. Routh repeatedly spoke critically of Trump’s address, claiming that he was his former disappointed voter. He should appear before the court again on September 30.

20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks shot at Trump already on July 14 at a pre-election meeting in the state of Pennsylvania, and the bullet hit the ex-president’s ear, another participant in the event lost his life. The shooter was then killed by a secret service sniper.
