A man threatened to shoot in the building of the Faculty of Philosophy in Prague

“We are looking for a man in the center of Prague who came to the Faculty of Arts building on Jan Palach Square, behaved abnormally and talked about shooting,” police spokesman Jan Daněk told Novinká shortly after 3:00 p.m.

The search was accompanied by large-scale maneuvers, dozens of police officers intervened in the vicinity of the faculty in the historical center of the metropolis.

According to Novinek, the suspect was caught before 3:30 p.m. in Hellichova Street. Criminal investigators have not yet provided details of the detainee, nor is it clear to what extent he was dangerous.

According to the police, the arrested man was not armed and is not mentally well. The police therefore took him to the hospital for examination.

Students and employees of the faculty received an information SMS six minutes before four o’clock: “There was an incident and a threat in the main FF building. The police intervened, the perpetrator was arrested. Operation of the building without changes.”

The incident occurred roughly a year after a shooter at the faculty killed 14 people, injured another 25, and subsequently shot himself.
