Police spokesman Michal Schön said that the child was pulled out of the water by his mother. The boy was not breathing, but firefighters from the local volunteer unit managed to revive him before the rescuers arrived.
“Together with colleagues from the air ambulance service, we took a preschool-aged boy into our care. After ensuring basic vital functions, he was transported by air to the Pilsen University Hospital,” said Luboš Bouček from the regional emergency service.
The mayor of the village added that the child’s mother had a mental breakdown. “It is a huge tragedy for the family. We all hope that the boy survives without serious consequences,” he added.
The police will not provide more detailed information due to the sensitivity of the event. “Criminalists took over the case,” concluded Schön.
