“We intervened in an oil leak from a truck after a technical fault near the filling station near Šlovice. A car crashed into one of our tankers during the intervention,” said regional fire department spokesman Petr Poncar.
“We freed two people from this car and assisted the rescuers. Two firefighters also ended up in their care. Their injuries are not serious and are not directly related to the accident, meaning that they did not come into contact with the crashed vehicle,” added Poncar.
The cause of the accident is under investigation
The spokeswoman for the emergency services, Mária Svobodová, confirmed that one person succumbed to injuries on the spot and the other was transported from the spot to the hospital in critical condition.
“We are investigating the cause of the accident,” added police spokeswoman Michaela Raindlová. The police opened traffic on the highway before 10 p.m. so that drivers would not be blocked in the queue. After that, however, the highway will be closed and cars will be diverted to a detour route.
