The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has announced that the next update of the database for the victims of the war in Kosovo is expected to be published at the end of January 2027.
During the visit to the Institute for Crimes Committed During the War in Kosovo (IKKL), where he met with the executive director Atdhe Hetemi, Kurti emphasized that the database is updated every day with new information and testimonies.
According to him, at the end of July, the preliminary list was published with 13,195 people killed during the period 1998-2000, which have been verified so far.
“The database is updated every day, while the new update results will be published after six months, which falls on the end of January 2027,” declared Kurti.
During this visit, the prime minister also accepted the institute’s annual work report, evaluating the achievements in documenting war crimes and cooperation with institutions, organizations and citizens.
Kurti announced that among the institute’s activities are the realization of over 127 interviews with survivors, within the “Remembrance of Massacres” project, out of about 1,000 planned interviews.
Kurti emphasized that the documentation and archiving of evidence are of special importance not only for preserving the historical truth, but also for the justice system and clarifying the responsibility for the crimes committed during the war.
