Many citizens have gathered today in front of the Kosovo Government building to protest after the murder of 49-year-old Arlinda Zekaj by her brother-in-law in Peja. The protest started at a time when the two government ministers, Kurti Donika Gërvalla and Xelal Sveçla, were holding a conference regarding the serious case, while the participants started throwing eggs at the institution.
The protesters are demanding justice for the 49-year-old mother of a son who was killed on October 25 in Vitomirica, Peja, as well as accountability from the institutions for the way her case was handled, reports Kosova Press.
The protest is taking place at a time when the Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, have announced a media conference, where they are expected to present the institutional reports related to the case.
Earlier, the situation became even more tense, after the protesters clashed with the Kosovo Police, as they tried to enter the Government building to attend the conference of the two ministers.
The murder of Arlinda Zekaj has provoked continuous reactions and protests in Kosovo, with citizens demanding institutional responsibility and concrete measures to prevent similar cases.
