The 14th Sarı Saltuk Meeting was held in Romania on the occasion of the 763rd anniversary

The “14th Sarı Saltuk Meeting” event was held in the Romanian cities of Constanta and Babadağ on the occasion of the 763rd anniversary of Sarı Saltuk’s arrival in the Balkans.

At the “14th Sarı Saltuk Meeting” event organized in cooperation with Türkiye’s Embassy in Bucharest and Consulate General in Constanta, Yunus Emre Institute (YEE), Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), International Development and Cooperation Association (UKID), Maarif Foundation, Romanian Democratic Turkish Union and Mecidiye Kemal Atatürk National College, the historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of Sarı Saltuk in the Balkans was discussed.

Türkiye’s Bucharest Ambassador Özgür Kıvanç Altan, Constanta Consul General Derya Dingiltepe and TİKA Vice President Yahya Coşkun, as well as institution representatives, academics, representatives of the Turkish and Romanian communities in Romania and YEE trainees attended the events held in Constanta and Babadağ.

In the opening program held in Constanta, a panel was held on Sarı Saltuk’s traces in the Balkans and the transfer of his legacy to future generations, while a poetry and hymn recital was held.

Following the program held at the Gazi Ali Pasha Mosque in Babadağ and the noon prayer, the tomb of Sarı Saltuk, who is believed to have come to the Balkans 763 years ago, was visited.

The grave of Sarı Saltuk Baba, a pioneer of unity and solidarity in the Balkans and Thrace and one of the important figures of Ahmet Yesevi thought, is located in Babadağ, Tulcea city of Romania.
