Citizens of Kosovo gathered again tonight in “Skënderbej” square in Pristina, protesting after the judgment of the Special Court in The Hague against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
The protest is held under the slogan “Not in my name”, while the citizens are expressing their opposition to the court’s decisions.
“This is the state that the four of them built. We are here to raise our voices with dignity. We will stand up every day and night against the decisions. We will not stop until the end,” said one of the protesters.
“Our history cannot be written without us. The KLA needs us”, says another citizen.
The protests in Pristina started the day before, immediately after the announcement of the verdict in The Hague. During yesterday’s day, the protestors first gathered in the “Skënderbej” square, while then a part of them went in front of the Government building and the EULEX headquarters.
The former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison, while the former parliament speaker and spokesman of the KLA, Jakup Krasniqi, has also been sentenced to 25 years in prison. Kadri Veseli was sentenced to 18 years in prison, while Rexhep Selimi was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
