With the motto “Not in my name”, thousands of citizens gathered on Thursday evening in the “Skënderbeu” square in Pristina, in the protest called against the punishment of the former leaders of the KLA by the Special Court based in The Hague. Supporters were also joined by family members of former KLA commanders.
“Thank you from all the Albanian people for the support. The people are with the Kosovo Liberation Army. KLA is pure and we believe in the innocence of all our liberators“, said Endrit Thaçi, son of former president Hashim Thaçi.
“Today we listen to what the people are saying“, said Klestor Veseli, son of Kadri Veseli.
The former chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, demanded that everything be done to fix, according to him, the unforgivable mistake of the Special Court in The Hague.
“The people of Kosovo have declared their liberators innocent, because they know that they are the most deserving for the freedom we enjoy. Therefore, this court has degraded to the extreme, it is outside of what we believed and we will do our best to improve the unforgivable mistake that they made yesterday“.
AAK deputy Time Kadrijaj said that a clear platform is needed for the release of KLA leaders.
In order to oppose the decision of the Special Court that sentenced the former leaders of the KLA to 81 years in prison, today the Organization of Veterans of the War of the Liberation Army of Kosovo has called a peaceful public protest in “Skënderbeu” square in Prishtina. Meanwhile, the KosovaPress agency reports that PDK, after Thursday’s meetings with the heads of other parties, is expected to submit today to the Assembly the proposal for the amendment and completion of the Law on Specialized Chambers and the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor of Kosovo with headquarters in The Hague.
