According to the statement made by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM), the northern parts of the Marmara Sea, especially Istanbul, are expected to be affected by the cool and rainy weather coming from the Balkans.
IT WILL START AT 18.00 AND LAST UNTIL 23.00
It is estimated that there will be a sudden drop in air temperatures starting from the evening hours today, and showers and occasionally strong thunderstorms will be effective throughout the city. It is expected that the rain will first start around 18:00 in the western parts of Istanbul, especially in Çatalca and Silivri, and increase its effect throughout the province after 23:00.
THERE IS RAIN ON THURSDAY
It is estimated that the rains may continue intermittently until 10:00 on Thursday, and in some regions, 10 to 25 kilograms of precipitation per square meter may fall.
IT WILL RAIN HEAVY
It is predicted that the precipitation may be stronger than expected in some places due to the unstable atmosphere that will occur as a result of the encounter of hot and humid air with the cool air coming from the north in the region, and lightning and thunderstorms may also occur during the rain.
Recommending the collection of garbage and similar wastes, cleaning of rainwater grates and chimneys, assigning on-duty teams outside working hours, and keeping personnel available at critical points, AKOM warned the relevant institutions and citizens to be cautious against negativities such as floods and transportation disruptions that may occur due to expected rainfall.
