Haxhiu: The constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo will be held at the beginning of August

The Acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has stated that the constitutive session of the Assembly will be held at the beginning of August, as she pointed out, the Constitutional deadline is until August 7.

Haxhiu further added that the Constitution gives the President a deadline of 30 days for calling the constitutive session and that he has decided to give space to the political parties to hold talks. According to her, this approach aims to create opportunities for reaching a political agreement before the constitution of the Assembly, in order to avoid the procrastination of the process of electing the president.

“The constitutional deadline is until August 7 and at the beginning of August there will be a constitutive session. Next week, I promise that you will know the exact day and the exact time. I appreciated giving the political parties the time available to reach an agreement, so that as soon as the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo is constituted, there is no need to wait 60 days to elect the president,” she said.

Haxhiu warned that the failure to elect the president could lead the country to extraordinary elections, which, according to her, would not be in the interest of the citizens.

“No one wants extraordinary elections in the Republic of Kosovo because they would not choose anything”Haxhiu stated as he emphasized the importance of the participation of all deputies in the constitutive session.
