The President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOK), Ismet Krasniqi, has announced that the official logo of the Mediterranean Games “Prishtina 2030” is in the final stage of approval, after the remarks of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG) have been addressed.
In the SportCast show, Krasniqi explained that any important decision related to the organization of the Games must be approved by ICMG, as the owner of this event.
“You may have heard that a logo has been approved, there have been some changes by the ICMG, by ICMG experts, because every decision taken by the Kosovo organizing committee for the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games must be approved by the ICMG. This is a rule. You can’t make any decisions, you make decisions, but the approval in the end comes from the ICMG, from the owner of the games, because the owner of the games is always the ICMG. We are only organizers. We have sent the logo, there were some comments which have been improved over time and I believe that very soon we will officially come out with the logo that we will have present for the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games, Krasniqi announced.
He also spoke about the next ICMG meeting that will be held in Taranto during the 2026 Mediterranean Games, where the Kosovo delegation will report on the progress of preparations for the organization of the 2030 edition.
“We have a meeting now in Taranto, it will be the next meeting and there we will definitely discuss the Mediterranean Games. There we will also reveal the achievements until that moment, until September when it will be August – September in fact. On August 21, the games will start until September 3. At that time we will be there, we will also participate in the assembly and there we will talk normally about the achievements, we will present what will be done until that moment. Now you know. that the new law for the Mediterranean Games has been approved by the Government of Kosovo. The board is now headed by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, and I hope the first meeting of the board will start very soon, we just have to act,” continued Krasniqi.
Krasniqi admitted that, despite the optimism, he feels a great responsibility for the realization of this historic project for Kosovo, not hiding his concern that the country may lose the right to organize if the obligations are not fulfilled.
“I am normally afraid as the president of the Kosovo Olympic Committee because I know the effort and sacrifice we have made as an Olympic committee to bring the games to Kosovo. Many countries probably have a dream and many countries may have applied four, five times and have not been able to receive these games. We have received them with the first one and without having a problem. This worries me a little, because it is a lot of work, a lot of sweat and a very big commitment to get something very valuable and to lose it for nothing”, emphasized Krasniqi.
According to him, with the approval of the special law, the creation of the Organizing Board and the start of its work, Kosovo has entered the decisive phase of preparations for the Mediterranean Games “Prishtina 2030”, which are considered the largest multi-sport event that will ever be organized in the country./KosovaPress
