The European Parliament has called on Serbia to normalize relations with Kosovo, stressing that its advancement in the process of integration into the European Union will depend on the implementation of reforms in the rule of law and respect for democratic standards.
Through a post on the X social network, the European Parliament underlined that Belgrade must demonstrate a clear commitment to the values on which the European Union is based.
“Serbia must show true commitment to the values of the European Union. Progress towards EU membership is possible only through reforms in the rule of law and strengthening of democratic standards. Serbia must normalize relations with Kosovo. Free and fair elections are needed to resolve the political crisis”says the statement of the European Parliament.
This position comes at a time when the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia, mediated by the European Union, continues to face challenges, while Brussels has reiterated that the normalization of relations remains a key condition for the European path of both countries.
