“In the forest area between Komenského and Plotní streets, the presence of a common viper has been recorded in recent days. We ask citizens to pay extra attention to places where snakes can be found when moving in forest and grassy areas,” the city warned on its website.
Adamov lies in the middle of deep forests, and specifically this place is not used for walks, but as a shortcut between the local parts of Horka and Mírov. The occurrence of vipers cannot be ruled out in other locations within the city. “Therefore, we ask all visitors to forests and green areas to be careful and respect nature,” reads the warning from the Adamov city office.
Kunštát issued a warning against vipers at the end of May, stating that these poisonous snakes were repeatedly observed in the Kohoutov cottage area, which is the destination of many trips. An attack in which a viper would bite someone has not happened in Blanensko for a long time, but caution is in order.
“It’s enough to be careful and follow the basic rules. Not everyone knows how to behave in nature, especially when coming into contact with vipers, that’s why we published simple recommendations on the city’s website,” Kunštát mayor Zdeněk Wetter (nez.) told Novinkám.
Coincidentally, the mayor’s original profession is a veterinarian. He advises people to be careful with dogs when wandering in nature and not to let them wander in high grass in the risk area.
An increased occurrence of vipers was also noted in other parts of the Czech Republic. In Krnov, she bit a man on the street when he came too close to her. He tried to take a picture of her as she crawled down the street. Another bite was reported in Šumava.
