The spokesperson of the Central Election Commission, Valmir Elezi, announced that according to the decision of the CEC, the recount of the ballots of 185 regular polling stations, which were previously counted in the Municipal Election Centers, has begun. The decision of the CEC is based on the Electoral Regulation for the operation of the Counting and Results Center.
Elezi stated that in this sub-legal act it is foreseen that the CEC will assess the situation and may decide on a recount of votes if necessary.
“This control measure has been provided by the CEC to address the problems identified in some of the Municipal Counting Centers during the counting of the votes of the candidates for deputies from the December elections of last year and is intended to ensure that the counting has been carried out accurately” – underlined Elezi.
After the closing of the counting of all votes, including those from the diaspora, conditional votes and those cast by persons with special needs on June 7, according to the results published by the Central Election Commission, the Vetëvendosje Movement with the candidate for Prime Minister Albin Kurti, secured 53 mandates in the new Assembly, the Democratic Party of Kosovo is ranked second with 22 deputies, which is followed by the Democratic League of Kosovo with 18 seats and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo with 7 seats in the 11th Parliamentary Legislature, while 10 seats are safe for political entities from the minorities of the Serbian community and another 10 from other minorities.
After the complaints of the parties participating in the June 7 elections, the CEC is expected to publish the final result and then proceed with their certification.
