The Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, has considered as positive news the warning of the reduction of KFOR troops in Kosovo.
According to RTK, Rutte said that the reduction in the number of KFOR troops is evidence that the situation in Kosovo is improving, as he confirmed that the number of soldiers who will remain in the country will match the number of troops that were present before the violence of May 2023.
“At the moment, KFOR has an overall size of about 4,700 troops. What we will do is return to pre-2023 levels. Of course, and depending on the circumstances, you will see a KFOR moving forward with between 3,000 and 3,500 troops. And that, I think, reflects the improved security situation, while KFOR’s mission remains absolutely focused on its core task.” declared Mark Rutte, Secretary General of NATO.
We recall that after the events in Kosovo, NATO increased its presence by over 1,000 troops, increasing the number of soldiers to nearly 5,000.
