30 days for the constitution of the Assembly, Kosovo MPs meet Wednesday

Members of the Assembly of Kosovo will meet on Wednesday (August 20) at 11:00 am, to continue the constituent session of the legislature issued by the February elections. This comes a day after the 30 -day deadline set by the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, as yesterday (August 18) the full judgment was published.

The Constitutional Court urges MPs to elect the new Speaker of Parliament through an open vote and within 30 days. Also, according to the decision of the Constitutional Court, a candidate for President of the Assembly cannot be voted on more than three times unless it can get the necessary votes.

Also, this decision obliges all the deputies elected to be present and to vote during the election of the President and the Vice -Presidents.

Political parties in Kosovo have reacted Following the publication of the full court verdict, where the winning party of the elections, the Vetevendosje Movement claims a “unfair” decision. On the other hand, PDK and LDK have welcomed the decision, describing it as “cut and mandatory”.
