Binance Promotes Eleanor Hughes to General Counsel
Binance Exchange News recently announced that they have promoted Eleanor Hughes to the position of General Counsel. With almost 15 years of experience, she has been working with Binance since November 2021 and is now responsible for 85 attorneys in her new role.
Former Officers Departure
The promotion followed the departure of Han Ng, chief strategy officer Patrick Hillmann, and senior vice president of compliance Steven Christie from their positions last week. Although Christie wrote a statement outlining his personal reasons for leaving, there were rumors circulating about an internal crisis within the cryptocurrency exchange.
Hugh’s Role at Binance
As part of her new role as General Counsel, Hugh’s will collaborate closely with Binance’s Compliance team in order to secure virtual asset service provider licenses and registrations for their platform which has been at the center of multiple lawsuits lately including those brought by CFTC and SEC in The United States.

When asked about Hugh’s status as General Counsel CEO CZ expressed his confidence in her abilities stating that she has grown to become a trusted advisor who is capable protecting users while managing risk on their platform.
